
Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili met with Kenya’s Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Hon. Mutahi Kagwe on the sidelines of the UNEA-7 session, held from 8–12 December at UNEP headquarters in Nairobi.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed expanding bilateral trade in agricultural products, including the export of Georgian wine, nuts, apples, and fruit and vegetable juices to Kenya, along with increased imports of Kenyan tea, coffee, and tropical fruits to Georgia. Both sides underscored the importance of exchanging best practices, as well as advancing joint research and innovation.
Songhulashvili reaffirmed Georgia’s readiness to deepen its partnership with Kenya, noting that the import and re-export of Kenyan products could help position Georgia as a regional trade hub and strengthen its reliability as a partner.
The two ministers expressed mutual commitment to continued cooperation in agriculture, livestock development, and trade, aiming to support new bilateral initiatives and reinforce long-term collaboration.
The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Gia Macharadze, along with Deputy Minister Nino Tandilashvili.
