
During his working visit to Israel, Georgia’s Minister of Environment and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, met with Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Safety, Avi Dichter, to discuss deepening cooperation between the two countries in agriculture.
The discussion highlighted expanding agricultural trade, sharing expertise, and developing joint educational programs for students in the sector. Songulashvili emphasized the significance of Dichter’s upcoming visit to Georgia in September and praised Israel as a global leader in agricultural innovation, technology, and research.
Georgia expressed interest in advancing practical cooperation in areas such as plant and animal genetics, post-harvest technologies, greenhouses, aquaculture, food safety, research methodologies, and innovative agricultural technologies. Both ministers also highlighted the importance of student exchanges and professional training.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers signed a declaration of intent outlining key areas of collaboration, including trade in agricultural products, food security, modern irrigation systems, smart farm management, veterinary cooperation, animal health monitoring, and laboratory development. Songulashvili described the agreement as a strong foundation for ambitious joint initiatives.
The meeting, held at Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, was attended by Georgia’s Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze, Ambassador Zaza Kandelaki, and Honorary Consul Meni Benishi.
