“The government of Georgia allocated $7 million to Ukraine and continues to assist 28,000 war-affected Ukrainians living in Georgia,” - the Prime Minister’s annual report reads.
The report, which was submitted to the Parliament, highlighted strengthening further close dialogue with strategic partner Ukraine as Georgia’s priority.
“In 2021, high-level bilateral visits were held. On July 19-20, the Presidents of Ukraine and Moldova partook in the Batumi International Conference. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale military aggression in Ukraine, Georgia has been providing political, diplomatic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. On 22-23 February 2022, amid the tense situation, Georgian Deputy FM visited Kyiv and held bilateral political consultations,” - the report said.
The document says that Georgia’s diplomatic and consular missions did not stop operations and remained in Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa, while many states withdrew their diplomatic missions from the Ukrainian capital.
Since the beginning of the war, the Georgian government has been providing significant humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and ensuring accommodation for Ukrainian citizens in Georgia. As of today, up to 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid has been sent to Ukraine.
