Deputy Economy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili attended a session of Parliament's Economic Policy Committee, held at Kaspi Technopark, where he and Avtandil Kasradze, Head of the Innovation and Technology Agency, updated MPs on the government’s innovation efforts.
Nadareishvili said the government's goal is to make Georgia a key regional centre for innovation and exports. He highlighted new policies, including a 10-year tax exemption for startups and new classifications for innovative SMEs and R&D organisations. He also noted that four international accelerators have started operating in Georgia, helping startups grow and access funding.
The committee was also briefed on the 500 Georgia venture fund, which has invested $5.9 million in 59 startups. Nadareishvili said the government’s next goal is to attract more international venture capital to support Georgia’s growing tech ecosystem.
He also spoke about the major Technology Hub being developed in Kutaisi's former Parliament building, which will include a science museum, AI centre, tech park, and offices for global IT companies.
Kasradze presented the Innovation and Technology Agency’s 2024 activities, and the session ended with startup founders showcasing their projects.
