Georgia has reached a historic milestone in the Atlantic Council’s 2025 Well-Being Index, earning a place among the top three countries of the 21st century for overall improvement in public well-being. Most notably, Georgia ranks first globally for progress achieved since 2012, according to a statement released by the Georgian Government.
The Well-Being Index measures national progress across a range of indicators, including income levels, social equality, minority rights protection, environmental sustainability, education, and public health.
Between 2001 and 2024, Georgia recorded a 17% improvement in public well-being, significantly outpacing the global average of 7.5%, Europe’s 6.7%, and the EU’s 5.5%. Since 2012 alone, Georgia’s well-being score rose by 8.8 points, elevating the country 23 positions in the global rankings.
As of 2025, Georgia ranks 47th worldwide in overall well-being—outperforming all of its neighboring countries, all EU candidate countries, and even five current EU and NATO member states.
This achievement highlights Georgia’s steady progress in social development and governance and underscores its growing standing on the international stage.
