Dimitris Avramopoulos, the ex-EU commissioner for migration, home affairs and citizenship, on Friday said Georgia’s future was related to the European perspective and the “European family”.
Dimitris Avramopoulos met the chair of the Georgian parliament’s European Union integration committee, Maka Botchorishvili, who is paying a visit to Greece, and vowed his country’s support for Georgia's European integration path.
"We live in an era of challenges. Georgia has gone through difficult moments in the past, but the future is very promising. The future is related to the European perspective and the European family and in this respect you have good friends in Greece, and we have always supported Georgia in all matters”, - Avramopoulos said.
The former EU official also stressed Georgia was not only a “stable country”, but also a “stabilizing factor” in a “very fragile” regional neighbourhood.
He also stressed that the Georgian leaders had set a goal of putting the country on its European path, but added “I believe that you need to do more to create the right image of Georgia”.
