
Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia totaled USD 1,333.8 million in 2024 (preliminary data), marking a 29.9% decrease compared to the adjusted data from 2023. The decline in equity and reinvestment capital were the primary contributors to the drop in FDI.
Breaking down the components of FDI, equity capital stood at USD 483.7 million, reflecting a 60.1% decrease from the previous year. Reinvestment capital amounted to USD 1,170.6 million, showing a 26.4% decrease compared to 2023.
The top three investor countries accounted for 58.2% of the total FDI in 2024. These countries include the United Kingdom (33.6%), Malta (13.2%), and the Netherlands (11.4%).
In terms of economic sectors, the financial and insurance activities sector received the largest share of FDI, totaling USD 526.5 million (39.5%). The manufacturing sector followed with USD 170.2 million (12.8%), while the real estate sector secured USD 155.3 million (11.6%). Together, these three sectors accounted for 63.9% of total FDI in Georgia in 2024.
