
“It is a priority for the country's economy to focus on technology, innovation and our grant projects, various funding or co-financing instruments to encourage just such an ecosystem. There are many talented people living in Georgia and we should give them the opportunity to turn their ideas and creativity into interesting and competitive business projects,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili told the media after the award ceremony of the winner of the GEL 150,000 co-financing grant program of 20 Startups. The event was held in Kobuleti and was attended by the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze.
Levan Davitashvili congratulated the successful startups on their success and spoke about the importance of developing innovative-technological businesses and supporting the state in this process.
As the Minister noted, he is confident in the success of winning startups, as these are innovative projects with the international potential that can attract capital internationally, develop their ventures and make a significant contribution to the country's economy.
The 150,000 GEL co-financing grant program of the Agency for Innovation and Technology of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development was held for the eighth time; this year the volume of the co-financing grant program increased from GEL 100,000 to GEL 150,000, and a total of 135 startups were funded within the seven rounds of the program. The goal of the co-financing grants program is to discover and support innovative startups with international potential in Georgia.
