At the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s (AIIB) annual meeting, Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili addressed the bank’s governors during the business session, spotlighting Georgia’s robust economic growth, commitment to macroeconomic stability, and advancements in structural reforms.
Khutsishvili emphasized Georgia’s position as a founding member of the AIIB and reaffirmed the country’s dedication to active and ongoing cooperation with fellow member states.
“Georgia has shown remarkable resilience and continues making steady progress toward its strategic objectives,” he noted. “These include completing critical infrastructure projects, improving connectivity through the Middle Corridor, and investing in human capital. Our economy has grown by an average of over 9.5% annually over the past four years, with strong growth expected to continue into 2025. In a challenging global context, our key priorities remain maintaining macroeconomic stability, addressing emerging challenges, and ensuring the sustainability of reforms and strategic investments.”
He also identified new areas for collaboration, including the development of digital finance, climate-resilient infrastructure, and increased support for private sector growth.
In closing, Khutsishvili thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for hosting the meeting and expressed appreciation to the AIIB and its leadership for their continued partnership with Georgia. He affirmed Georgia’s readiness to deepen cooperation and enhance its role as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia.
