The fifth Tbilisi Silk Road Forum officially opened on October 22 at the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Georgia’s capital, bringing together over 2,300 delegates from more than 70 countries. Held under the patronage of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the two-day event has once again positioned Tbilisi as a pivotal hub for international dialogue on connectivity, trade, and cooperation between Asia and Europe.
The opening session featured a high-level dialogue with the participation of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov, underscoring the forum’s role in fostering regional engagement and diplomacy.
Launched in 2015, the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum has grown into a globally recognized biennial platform, hosting heads of government, business leaders, representatives of international organizations, and development institutions. This year’s participants include officials from the United Nations, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation (BSEC), as well as senior figures from major global companies.
Themed “Invest in Connectivity – Grow in Stability,” the 2025 forum focuses on strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties across the Silk Road corridor. Discussions center on expanding transport and logistics networks, developing the Middle Corridor, and launching cross-sectoral projects to enhance infrastructure, energy, digital connectivity, and trade.
On October 22, the forum hosts seven thematic panel discussions addressing:
International trade
The Middle Corridor
Energy and energy transition
Investment opportunities
Innovation and technology
In parallel, attendees will explore strategic infrastructure projects such as the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port, and the Black Sea submarine cable—initiatives key to Georgia’s role as a regional connector in both energy and digital sectors.
The event will conclude on October 23 with the Tbilisi Finance Summit, while ongoing bilateral meetings and side events throughout the forum aim to foster practical cooperation and investment.
The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum continues to play a crucial role in connecting regions, building partnerships, and positioning Georgia as a strategic gateway between East and West.
