A financial agreement was signed between FedEx's licensed representative office in Georgia and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), through which a logistics center of international standards will be built in Georgia, the like of which has not been existed in Georgia until now.
A logistics center equipped with modern standards will be built on 10,000 sq/m, near the Tbilisi International Airport in 18 months. It is planned to create up to 150 jobs.
It should be noted that for this purpose, Information Communication Systems, the licensee of the international shipping company FedEx in Georgia, took a loan of $4 million from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), which must be repaid within 10 years. The Information Communication Systems also mobilized its own investment capital in construction.
It is important that the new logistics center will also contribute to the development of e-commerce in Georgia, as the new warehouse services will be connected to electronic platforms and the products will be delivered through the logistics center without the efforts of the stores.
"It was a long and difficult process before receiving funding from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), however, it is worth noting that the Information Communication Systems was given the highest rating in three out of four criteria, - this is the contribution to the development of Georgia's infrastructure and the development of industry and women's leadership in the company.
The demand for a unified, high-standard logistics center in Georgia is great, and after the completion of the project, the company will begin to take care of its development," - the Company says.
