
In the first quarter of this year, the export of dried fruit from Georgia decreased. According to official statistics, in January-March, only 200 tons of dried fruits worth $774 thousand were sold in different directions from the country, which is 52.7% less than the value of goods sold last year, and 71.9% less than the volume.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), dried fruit exports include such goods as dried coconuts, dried bananas, plantains, dried dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens, i.e. garcinia, dried citrus fruits, dried grapes, apricots, black plums, apples, peaches, nectarines, pears, papayas, tamarinds, cashews, lychees, jackfruits, breadfruit, sapodillas, passionflowers, carambola, and pitayas, as well as dried ascil, barberry, and other commodities.
Along with the decrease in the export of goods, the list of selling countries also decreased in the first quarter of 2023. The main dry fruit market for Georgia is Germany. The ranking of the countries is as follows:
1. Germany - $282 thousand, 65.7 tons;
2. Russia - $262 thousand, 84.4 tons;
3. Latvia - $76 thousand, 3.9 tons;
4. France - $72 thousand, 19.8 tons;
5. Lithuania - $59 thousand, 9.6 tons;
6. Ukraine - $7 thousand, 3 tons;
7. Armenia - $6 thousand, 12.7 tons;
Other countries: $6.3 thousand, 0.7 tons.
