The seventh session of the 2nd thematic group of the sub-committee on economic and sectoral cooperation of the Georgia-EU association was held in Brussels.
As the National Competition Agency of Georgia reported, the purpose of the meeting was to assess the dialogue and the processes carried out between Georgia and the European Union in connection with the fulfillment of the obligations undertaken by Georgia within the framework of the Association Agreement and the Association Agenda.
"In the aforementioned direction, the head of the legal department of the National Competition Agency, Sophio Momtselidze, participated in the session in order to present the issues implemented by the National Competition Agency of Georgia, within the scope of competence, and to participate in the dialogue.
The European Union side positively assessed the progress of Georgia's fulfillment of its obligations under the Association Agreement. At the meeting, the main attention was paid and the importance of Georgia's adoption of the bill on Protection of Consumer Rights and the start of enforcement in this direction was emphasized," - the Agency said.
The participants discussed the following main issues within the meeting: industrial and enterprise policy, mining activities; tourism; corporate law and corporate governance; consumer policy; tax policy, etc. According to the institutional mechanism of the Association Agreement, the meetings of sectoral thematic groups are held annually.
David Bujiashvili, the Head of the EU Assistance Coordination and Sectoral Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and the representatives of various relevant agencies participated in the meeting.
