
The EBRD plans to intensify cooperation with the private sector in Adjara, Georgia's Black Sea region. In addition to infrastructure investments, the EBRD is ready to further deepen its support for small and medium-sized businesses. The Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara held a meeting with Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, the BRD Regional Director for the Caucasus. Jaba Putkaradze thanked the EBRD representative in Adjara for the ongoing and implemented projects with their support.

The discussion at the meeting touched upon the importance of Adjara's carrier and transport sector against the backdrop of regional and global challenges. The Bank representatives offered businesses the consulting and technical assistance in the form of grants.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Giorgi Romanadze, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara, Giorgi Surmanidze, and representatives of the shipping and transport sector.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is the largest institutional investor in Georgia. Since the beginning of its activities in the country, the bank has invested more than 4.8 billion euros in 270 projects. At the moment, the investment portfolio of the EBRD's current projects is 1.3 million euros. It is noted that the share of the private sector in the total investment portfolio is up to 80%.
