Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, speaking to Georgian journalists during his visit to China, stated that the large-scale Eagle Hills development project will make an unprecedented contribution to boosting Georgia’s economy.
As the Head of Government emphasized, this project represents a crucial step toward achieving the country’s long-term development goals.
“Poverty in our nation remains at 9.4%, having been reduced from 30%. This year, our economy is projected to surpass USD 10,000 per capita for the first time, with a total output exceeding GEL 100 billion. These milestones are essential for improving the well-being and standard of living of our citizens. Nothing can stand in the way of this progress. Today, the state stands at the pinnacle of its capacity,” Kobakhidze noted.
Reflecting on past challenges, the Prime Minister referred to the Namakhvani Hydropower Plant project, which was halted following protests, and stressed that such setbacks would no longer be possible.
“This is not the Namakhvani period, when certain speculators managed to harm Georgia. No political force will be able to achieve such an outcome again. These politicians will no longer be able to engage in reckless speculation,” he said.
Kobakhidze underlined that the Georgian state now operates at an entirely new level, ensuring that national interests are protected in every sphere—from energy and construction to major development projects.
“Today, the state is functioning at a completely different capacity. National interests will be safeguarded everywhere—whether it concerns hydroelectric plants, the construction sector, or projects in any other field. The Eagle Hills project is one of those outstanding initiatives, and its successful, unhindered implementation will be ensured wherever it serves Georgia’s national interests,” the Prime Minister concluded.
