Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the large-scale development project to be implemented by Eagle Hills will make an “unprecedented contribution” to boosting Georgia’s economy. The Prime Minister made the remarks while speaking to Georgian journalists during his visit to China.
According to Kobakhidze, the project represents a major step toward achieving the country’s broader development goals.
“Poverty in our nation remains at 9.4%, down from 30%. This year, our economy is projected to surpass USD 10,000 per capita for the first time, with a total economy exceeding GEL 100 billion. These are crucial milestones for improving the well-being and living standards of our people. Nothing can stand in the way of this progress. Today, the state stands at the pinnacle of its capacity,” Kobakhidze said.
He contrasted the current environment with past challenges, referencing the Namakhvani Hydropower Plant project, which was halted amid public protests.
“This is not the Namakhvani period, when certain speculators succeeded in damaging Georgia. No political force will be able to achieve such an outcome again. These politicians will not be able to engage in such reckless speculation,” he asserted.
Kobakhidze emphasized that the state now operates at a “completely different level” and that national interests will be protected in all major sectors, including hydropower, construction, and other strategic projects.
“The unhindered implementation of projects will be ensured wherever it aligns with national interests. The Eagle Hills project is one of those outstanding initiatives,” the Prime Minister concluded.
