The 41st General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was held in Montreal. The Director of the Union of the Georgian Airports Tamar Archuadze took part in the event together with the Georgian delegation.
At the plenary session, the Georgian delegation focused on the speed of recovery of the aviation industry after the Covid-19 pandemic and the improvement of flight safety. The Georgian side expressed hope that the ICAO will take effective measures against those members of the organization, who violate the Chicago Convention.
"This year, in terms of international air transportation, we have a total of 95% recovery in all airports. The statistics are really impressive, at the same time, flight and aviation safety always remains a priority for us. In this direction, Georgia has really progressed in recent years, and this was confirmed by the two certificates awarded at the previous ICAO assembly. In 2022, Georgia adopted an action plan for the aviation security, which is designed for the next three years and is in line with the plans of all international organizations and partners,” - Tamar Archuadze said.
The Assembly meets at least once every three years and is convened by the Council. ICAO's 190 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which will establish the worldwide policy of the Organization for the next three years.
