
The Lebanese airline Middle East Airlines (MEA) entered the Georgian air market. At the initial stage, the airline will perform 10 charter flights from Beirut to Tbilisi and vice versa, and after observing the market, it will decide whether to stay on this route with regular flights.
MEA made the first charter flight from Lebanon to Georgia on July 19. It turns out that the airline performed the first flight with a-75% capacity, and the flight with a-45% capacity, which is a satisfactory indicator for the airline company in the case of the first flight, when it did not conduct an open marketing campaign.
"Passengers from Beirut arrived in Georgia through various detours and airlines. There was quite a lot of passengers in the mentioned direction and therefore it was decided to organize direct flights. MEA operates in Armenia as well, with 3 frequencies per week. After getting to know the market on the ground from the MEA head office, it was decided that the airline would try charter flights between Beirut and Tbilisi first. Sidon Travel has a good representation of the airline in Georgia, and the same company provides its GSA as well," AFS Ground Handling, which provides air transport services for airlines, told AviaNews.
MEA will operate one flight per week from Beirut to Tbilisi.
