
“A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to promote the development and strengthening of the education system of Georgia,” - the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia reports.
Reportedly, the document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Valerian Gobronidze, and the Acting Mission Director of the USAID mission in Georgia, Claire Mason.
The memorandum envisages supporting Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations by strengthening the educational system, which implies the implementation of various promotional projects in all areas of education, including general, professional and higher education.
Under the document, the parties will jointly implement the programs to promote the development of inclusive education, which will ensure the increase of equal access to quality education. Also, as part of cooperation, in order to support the professional development of teachers, various professional training, academic programs and learning resources will be developed for teachers in accordance with international standards.
The memorandum envisages the strengthening of the role of the private sector in the process of reforming the education system, which, in accordance with the requirements of the labor market, is particularly important in terms of training highly qualified personnel. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, together with the USAID Georgia, will contribute to the deepening of cooperation between educational institutions and civil society organizations.
It is important that the USAID Georgia has allocated a total of $55,699,880 for the implementation of various supporting educational projects.
