
“Global consumption of coffee is likely to climb by 1% to 2% a year through the end of the decade,” - the Executive Director of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), Vanusia Nogueira, announced.
Similarly, demand for coffee is growing in Georgia as well, as statistical data shows. Particularly, in 10 months of 2022, compared to the same period of the previous year, the import of coffee increased by 19%, and compared to 2019 before the pandemic, it increased by 9.2%. More specifically, 6,066 tons ($22,092 million) of coffee were imported into Georgia in 10 months this year, 5,101 tons ($14,867 million) in 2021, and 5,260 tons ($14,555 million) in 2019.
As for the importing countries, this year Georgia has purchased roasted or unroasted coffee from 32 countries of the world.
The largest volumes of coffee were imported into Georgia from the following countries:
Indonesia - 3,143 tons ($7,697 million)
Vietnam - 691 tons ($1.681 million)
Russia - 506 tons ($2.713 million)
Germany - 359 tons ($2,455 million)
Armenia - 279 tons ($962.6 thousand)
Uganda - 240 tons ($597.6 thousand)
Italy - 212 tons ($2.428 million)
Switzerland - 158 tons ($543.5 thousand)
