China’s Ambassador to Georgia, Zhou Qian, highlighted growing bilateral ties and future cooperation during the Tbilisi Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, where he reaffirmed China’s strong support for Georgia’s development ambitions.
Speaking at the event—attended by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze—Ambassador Zhou emphasized the shared modernization paths of China and Georgia and underlined Beijing’s commitment to mutual progress.
“China does not seek to stand alone in its modernization journey but envisions a flourishing community of shared development,” Zhou said, calling for deeper engagement through global initiatives such as the Belt and Road.
He praised the strategic importance of Georgia’s transit role and expressed China’s readiness to expand cooperation across key sectors including high technology, clean energy, the digital economy, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
“China is willing to deepen cooperation with Georgia and other countries to build a greener, smarter, and more inclusive future,” he stated, positioning Georgia as a vital partner in regional connectivity through the Belt and Road Initiative and the Middle Corridor.
Ambassador Zhou also stressed China’s solidarity with the Global South, noting that China will “always be a member of the Global South” and views relations with developing nations as a diplomatic priority.
He concluded with a message of long-term partnership and optimism:
“As a Chinese saying goes, with a steady start, a journey of a thousand miles is achievable. No matter how the international situation changes, peace and development should always be the common pursuit of all countries.”
The forum underscored both countries’ shared aspirations for sustainable development, enhanced connectivity, and inclusive growth.
