Before the elections, all parties agreed to accept the OSCE/ODIHR’s conclusions, yet some are now attempting to discredit the report to serve political agendas, said Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
He stressed that those who want OSCE/ODIHR observation must respect its findings. “The report highlighted good technical and procedural management. While minor issues were noted, none affected the legitimacy of the results,” Kalandarishvili stated.
Although the OSCE/ODIHR will not observe the October 4 elections—officially due to time constraints—the CEC noted similar missions were deployed on short notice in the past. This election will still be monitored by 28 international and 27 local organisations, along with 73 media outlets.
“No international or local body has claimed the CEC created any obstacles,” Kalandarishvili concluded, emphasizing openness to cooperation and improvement through diverse recommendations.
