The German government has issued an official response to inquiries from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party concerning German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer. The questions centered on allegations that the ambassador rented expensive property from Georgian businessman and politician Mamuka Khazaradze, held meetings with opposition representatives, and the nature of those discussions.
According to the response published by the Bundestag, the government categorically denied claims that Ambassador Fischer rented property from Khazaradze, calling them false.
Regarding contacts with political figures, the government confirmed that the ambassador met with a representative of the opposition party For Georgia. The meeting took place after Georgia’s local elections on October 4, 2025, and was conducted “in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
“The Federal Government does not, as a matter of principle, comment on the content of confidential discussions,” the Bundestag statement read.
The response also noted that during the same period, Ambassador Fischer met once with the Head of the Georgian State Chancellery and once with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The official document, titled “Federal Government Response to the Minor Interpellation by Members of Parliament Udo Theodor Hemmelgarn, Gerold Otten, Heinrich Koch, other Members of Parliament, and the AfD Parliamentary Group,” summarized the AfD’s questions and the government’s replies as follows:

The federal government has since published official answers to those questions on its website.
