Batumi has been named the Leading European Four-Season Tourist Destination at the World Travel Awards, the Government of Ajara announced.
The Chairman of the Ajara Government, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, attended the awards ceremony in Italy along with members of the regional delegation. He said that developing tourism remains one of the government’s top priorities.
“This recognition is the result of joint efforts by the national and regional governments, the private sector, and the public,” Tamazashvili said. “Tourism drives economic growth and helps us share Georgia’s unique culture, history, and traditions with the world. By preserving these values, we can further boost tourism and improve the well-being of families and the country as a whole.”
The Ajara delegation also included Tourism Department Head Tinatin Zoidze and Acting Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Tsintsadze.
Batumi beat out several major European destinations, including Budapest, Geneva, Munich, Oslo, Salzburg, Stockholm, and Tallinn.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, celebrate excellence across the global travel and tourism industry, recognizing top destinations, companies, and organizations in various categories each year.
