During a joint press conference with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underscored Azerbaijan's position as Georgia’s primary foreign investor, citing a total of $3.6 billion in investments and a bilateral trade volume projected to reach one billion dollars in 2024.
Bayramov emphasized that collaborative projects between Azerbaijan and Georgia are playing a transformative role in reshaping the region's energy and geo-economic dynamics. He specifically highlighted significant infrastructure initiatives, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline, the Southern Gas Corridor (which underwent expansion in 2024), and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, noting that the cargo capacity of the latter has increased from 5 to 10 million units.
“These projects have attained historical significance, not only for our countries but for the wider region,” Bayramov remarked.
Ahead of the Georgian Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to Baku for the tenth-anniversary session of the bilateral governmental commission, Bayramov further emphasized the strong institutional ties between the two nations. He noted the regular parliamentary exchanges, the presence of friendship groups, and the ongoing communication between their respective foreign ministries.
