Azerbaijan and Georgia have agreed on transit tariffs for transporting cargo from Azerbaijan to Armenia, a development that reflects the friendly nature of relations between Baku and Tbilisi, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.
Speaking at a year-end press conference, Bayramov explained that Armenia had submitted a request to purchase petroleum products, which raised the issue of transporting the cargo through Georgian territory. According to him, the initial tariff set by Georgia was unusually high and did not align with established practice, prompting concerns in Azerbaijan.
“Within a short period, the Georgian leadership intervened and the issue was resolved,” Bayramov said. “A tariff fully compliant with market conditions was agreed upon between the companies.”
He expressed gratitude to Georgia’s leadership for their prompt involvement, noting that the outcome underscores the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia. Bayramov added that the matter has now been settled and that the same approach will be applied in the future.
