Exports of Georgian wine to 47 countries of the world amounted to 16.7 million litres between January and February, totaling $47.6 million, the country’s National Wine Agency announced on Tuesday.
The Agency said the volume of exported wine had increased by 16.7 million litres - a 43 percent rise compared to the same period of last year.
The strategic market for Georgian wine in Poland had experienced a notable boost of 27% in exports this year, following a two-year downturn due to the crisis in the wider region.
Germany, the largest export market, maintained a firm growth rates of 4% over the past few years, it also said, while exports grew in other strategic markets such as Estonia (by 41%), Japan (549%), Ukraine (27%), Canada (472%) and Israel (37%).
The Agency also noted 6.3 million litres of alcoholic beverages were exported to 31 countries around the world between January and February in amounts totalng $35.2 million.
The volume of exported alcoholic beverages increased by 48 percent, while revenues amounted to 46%.
