Speaking at the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that peace has been restored in the South Caucasus, emphasizing the need to now focus on expanding cargo transit, energy networks, and digital infrastructure to foster prosperity across Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
He highlighted the significance of the Washington Declaration, signed in August 2025 with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, under U.S. mediation. The agreement affirms sovereignty, territorial integrity, and regional connectivity, including a key provision enabling unrestricted transit between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through Armenia.
Pashinyan announced that Armenia is already politically and technically prepared to facilitate cargo transit across its territory, with key border points such as Margara ready for operation. He also acknowledged Azerbaijan’s move to lift restrictions on Armenian-bound goods, and thanked Georgia for its role in facilitating recent progress.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation among South Caucasus nations, stating that regional transport initiatives should not be seen as rivals but as complementary routes that enhance the region’s strategic value.
He expressed optimism about future rail and electricity connections between Azerbaijan and Armenia via Nakhchivan and Turkiye, calling these part of a broader trilateral infrastructure initiative.
“We have laid the foundation for peace, prosperity, and development in the South Caucasus. What remains is to build on this through cooperation and shared growth,” Pashinyan concluded, calling for deeper ties among Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan to ensure long-term stability and progress.
