Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the importance of the longstanding Armenian-Georgian friendship as a foundation for expanding cooperation, during a joint press statement with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili in Tbilisi.
Mirzoyan stressed that the strategic partnership between the two nations must focus on strengthening interconnectivity across all spheres.
“Throughout the year, high-level bilateral meetings have taken place. Just last month, the Prime Minister of Armenia visited Tbilisi for the Silk Road Forum, and the President of Armenia will soon visit Georgia as well. Our cooperation spans every sector—economy, security, education, culture, and people-to-people ties,” he noted.
He emphasized that interconnectivity—both macro and micro—deserves particular attention.
“By interconnectivity, I mean everything from transportation links and economic cooperation to business partnerships and interpersonal exchanges. There is significant demand for deeper connection, and this directly impacts the well-being of our citizens,” Mirzoyan said.
The foreign minister reaffirmed that all South Caucasus countries should work toward stronger regional ties.
“In this context, the Crossroads of Peace initiative is not new. The Armenian Prime Minister has presented it in Georgia. We believe that the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with support from the United States, will contribute significantly to the region’s development. Our region can genuinely become a crossroads,” he stated.
Mirzoyan also pointed to the potential created by unblocking regional infrastructure, including the “Trump Route” on Armenian territory, which aligns with international development principles and respect for territorial integrity.
According to him, Georgia’s railway system will play a key role in linking Europe and Central Asia, while Armenia aims to expand its global connectivity.
He added that cultural cooperation—such as holding cultural days in both countries—remains an important element of bilateral ties. Diplomatic agencies and foreign ministries are also maintaining close collaboration.
Both sides discussed regional relations and upcoming international engagements, including their participation in next spring’s European Political Community Summit.
“I want to express my gratitude to Minister Maka Botchorishvili for advancing the strategic interconnection between Armenia and Georgia,” Mirzoyan concluded.
