APM Terminals Poti has recorded a significant rise in cargo throughput during the first eight months of 2025, reinforcing its position as a key logistics hub on the Black Sea. The terminal handled 432,216 TEU containers, marking an 18% increase compared to 365,680 TEUs processed during the same period in 2024.
The number of container vessels serviced also rose notably, with 239 ships calling at the port so far this year—up 12% from 213 ships in the same timeframe last year.
Strong Growth in General Cargo
In addition to container traffic, the terminal experienced substantial growth across general cargo categories:
-
General cargo volumes reached 191,561 tons in 2025, a 40% jump from 136,852 tons in 2024.
-
Ferry cargo handling rose 20%, totaling 113,060 tons, compared to 93,892 tons last year.
-
Car container units processed increased to 13,601, up from 12,892 in 2024.
-
Total vehicles handled climbed to 53,226 units, a modest rise from 52,405 the previous year.
APM Terminals attributed this consistent growth to its enhanced operational capacity and its strategic role in facilitating growing regional trade. The company emphasized that these results highlight Poti’s importance in Georgia’s logistics network and the broader Black Sea transport corridor.
