A "Joint Research and Licensing Agreement" was signed between Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency and the Technological Research Institute for Materials, Metallurgy and Processes (IRT M2P) as part of the "Technology Transfer Pilot Program" of Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia in the French city of Metz.
IRT M2P is a French research institute working on innovative and technological solutions in the fields of air, sea, rail, energy, defense, material manufacturing and more. The Institute is jointly funded by the French government and French industrial companies.
IRT M2P will actively work along with the Ferdinand Tavadze Metallurgy and Materials Science Institute, through funding from the French government and French industrial companies in order to develop and raise the technological readiness of the Georgian technology, which will be financed entirely by the French side. Four French companies are already interested in financing this process, and 50% will be funded by the French government. Also, IRT M2P provides the introduction of the above-mentioned Georgian technology and the transfer of licenses to the French industrial companies.
"Another important and successful project was implemented with the support of Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency – the Georgian technology has been licensed for the first time. This will allow the representatives of our technological field to further develop and enhance the achievements of the Georgian technology. It is also noteworthy that after the joint development of the Georgian technology, the French and Georgian research institutes will collaboratively become owners of technology and the related intellectual property," - the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said.
