Georgia’s Ministry of Economy has confirmed that critical works on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port—specifically seabed deepening and breakwater construction—are progressing in line with the approved project timeline.
The large-scale maritime infrastructure is being developed by Belgian company Jan De Nul N.V., a global leader in dredging and marine construction, selected through an international tender and contracted by the state.
As part of the first phase, the port will have the capacity to handle up to 600,000 containers annually, with a projected investment of $600 million. Once completed, the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is expected to significantly boost Georgia’s position as a key logistics and trade hub in the Black Sea region.
