“Implementation of the minimum energy efficiency requirements will have a positive impact both on the reduction of harmful effects on the environment and from the socio-economic point of view. An energy-efficient building maintains its temperature for a long time and uses approximately 40% less energy to heat or cool it. Consequently, the costs related to heating in winter and cooling in summer will be significantly reduced,” - the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Romeo Mikautadze said at the meeting with the representatives of construction and development companies and business associations.
The First Deputy Minister made a presentation about the minimum requirements of energy efficiency and the procedures for their implementation, after which the meeting was held in discussion mode. Business questions were also answered by representatives of the Tbilisi City Hall, the international consulting company Gopa-intec and the Georgian Business Association.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, as part of the Georgian Energy Sector Reform Program, with the support of the European Union and the German Reconstruction Credit Bank and in cooperation with the international consulting company Gopa-intec, ensures the development of energy legislation in terms of renewable energies, energy market and energy efficiency.
