As the Executive Director of the Georgian Wheat and Flour Producers Association Levan Silagava stated, the planned meetings are part of the project, within the framework of which the American side should study the current situation in the field and then give a recommendation.
"If the [Americans'] advice is for these three sectors to work synchronously, it's clear that the challenge is that the mills can't do it, because the wheat and flour import regimes are different. We state our problems and then we will hear the recommendation in a broader perspective, concerning wheat harvest, operation of mills and bread producers. In terms of food security, we should have wheat on the ground, increase its quantity so that the mills can process it here," said Levan Silagava.
To be informed, in the summer 2022, the Georgian Minister of Agriculture Otar Shamugia held meetings on the issue of improving Georgia's wheat self-sufficiency at the US Department of Agriculture, after which it became known that the US would study Georgia's wheat sector, creating an opportunity to take appropriate measures
