The project of the information tourist route Golden Route in Golden History - Alaverdi heritage trail - is a journey through time and space, which, on the one hand, connects three remarkable places located in the geographical proximity: Shuamta, Ikalto, Alaverdi, and on the other hand, creates a single historical and cultural adventure that will introduce the guest to:
The history of the old and new Shuamta Monasteries hidden in the Shuamta forest, the Ikalto Monastic Academy and the centuries-old tradition of making pitchers [qvevri], the spiritual significance of the Alaverdi Monastery and its unique architecture.
The information tourist route Golden Road in Golden History includes, from Tbilisi to Alaverdi, a 150-kilometer section, the development of the historical and cultural, agricultural and tourist/educational potential of Georgia and the promotion of employment of the local population there.

It is noteworthy that as part of the program, with the direct support and participation of Badagoni Winery, it was possible to develop the Visitor Welcome Center “Shuamtis Karibche”, which already serves visitors as one of the connecting points of the Alaverdi Heritage Trail.
In turn, this provides an opportunity to increase the economic potential of the Kakheti region, develop the heritage of Alaverdi as a unique tourist destination that combines three outstanding historical monuments: Shuamta, Ikalto and Alaverdi.

The partners of the Alaverdi heritage trail project are the Diocese of Alaverdi, Badagoni Winery and the USAID/Georgia Economic Security Program.
