An Air Transport Agreement was signed between the governments of Georgia and the Sultanate of Oman. From the Georgian side, the agreement was signed by the Director of Georgian Civil Aviation Agency Givi Davitashvili.
According to the Civil Aviation Agency, the agreement will make direct regular flights between Georgia and Oman attractive for airlines and will contribute to the expansion of the flight area and the deepening of tourism and trade and economic relations between the countries.
The agreement will enter into force after the completion of domestic procedures by both parties. Work on it between the Sultanate of Georgia and Oman began in 2014. In the same year, a memorandum of understanding was signed and the aforementioned agreement initialed.
The Air Transport Agreement is based on liberal principles and does not provide for restrictions on the number of designated airlines and destinations. In addition, designated airlines have the right to determine the capacity and frequency of flights at their own discretion.
The signing of the agreement took place in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the ongoing International Civil Aviation Negotiations (ICAN 2023) under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
