Air Serbia has officially launched direct flights between Georgia and Serbia, marking a historic first in air travel between the two countries. According to United Airports of Georgia, the airline will operate regular direct flights between Tbilisi and Belgrade three times a week using Airbus A319 aircraft.
The inaugural flight from Belgrade landed at Tbilisi International Airport earlier today. Among the passengers was Serbian Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade, Jagoda Lazarevic. She was welcomed at the airport’s government terminal by Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, United Airports of Georgia General Director Levan Moseshvili, and Serbian Ambassador to Georgia and Armenia, Tatjana Panajotovic-Cvetkovic.
A special reception was held to celebrate Air Serbia’s entry into the Georgian market, attended by representatives from the aviation and tourism sectors, as well as airline officials.
“This is the first time in history that direct, regular air service has been established between Georgia and Serbia,” said Moseshvili.
Air Serbia, the successor to Serbia’s first national airline Aeroput, founded in 1927, is expanding its reach in Eastern Europe. In 2024, total passenger traffic between Georgia and Serbia reached 16,839—a 66% increase over 2023, reflecting growing interest in direct travel between the two nations.
