"We need to talk seriously about adjusting the administrative boundary of Batumi," - the Head of the company City Institute – Georgia, Mamuka Salukvadze, working on the Batumi Master Plan said. According to Mamuka Salukvadze, in the process of working on the master plan, several findings have already been identified, including the possible change of the administrative boundary of Batumi.
“This is permissible and something similar should be done, as there are certain places where the city is arguably, artificially divided by an administrative boundary, whereas in practice, the areas are identical and the same settlement is located on either side of the boundary. It is unknown to us why it was split in its time”, - the Head of the company City Institute – Georgia, Mamuka Salukvadze, said.
City Institute – Georgia has completed the first stage of the master plan. The Head of the company said that, in addition to the administrative boundaries of Batumi, significant work will be done on the Chorokhi landfill, the location of which needs to be changed. Simultaneously, according to Salukvadze, City Institute – Georgia has already provided the local municipality with maps of the drainage system, which has been one of the most important challenges for Batumi for years.
A recommendation report on temporary construction restrictions in specific areas has already been prepared, which will be submitted to the Batumi City Hall tomorrow.
As Mamuka Salukvadze stated, the main restrictions will apply to the third and fourth category facilities. He said the restrictions should be in place for at least one year.
