Acting President of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, met with the Ambassador of Great Britain to Georgia, Mark Clayton.
During the meeting, the main attention was paid to the discussion of the macroeconomic trends of the country. The conversation also touched on the issue of enforcement of financial sanctions imposed by the USA, Great Britain and the European Union as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Natia Turnava noted that the steps taken by the National Bank are in full compliance with international sanctions. Also, the importance of close cooperation between the National Bank and the Central Bank of England was emphasized. Projects implemented with the support of the British Embassy were discussed and it was noted that close cooperation will continue.
“Great Britain is an important strategic partner of Georgia. We discussed joint projects. We have been cooperating with the Central Bank of England since 2008. They have extensive experience in inflation targeting and knowledge sharing. It should be noted that the Bank of England provided significant assistance to the National Bank in transitioning to the inflation targeting regime. I hope that the close cooperation will continue," said Turnava.
