Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili commented on the state of Georgia–U.S. relations, noting that ties had sharply deteriorated during the past four years under the Biden administration but that this is no longer the case. She highlighted the suspension of the MEGOBARI Act as a positive step and reiterated Georgia’s aim to build a strategic partnership based on “concrete substance.”
Botchorishvili said the U.S. has not yet clarified its policy toward Georgia, with Washington’s focus currently on major global crises, including the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine war. She expressed confidence that a positive reset in relations “will be inevitable.”
The Minister also welcomed renewed U.S. diplomatic engagement in efforts to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, stressing that regional peace and support for the Middle Corridor are in Georgia’s interest.
