As the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture reported, Solomon Pavliashvili informed the participants of the meeting about the current situation in the direction of green economy and Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) in Georgia and the state of fulfillment of obligations undertaken within the agenda of association with the European Union.
"It should be noted that the Association Agreement with the European Union provides for the introduction of a sustainable public procurement approach, encouraging eco-labeling and eco-innovations.
The representatives of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) positively evaluated the activities carried out in Georgia regarding the sustainable public procurement, which will further contribute to the introduction of the mentioned approach.
The activities of the EU4Environment program funded by the European Union are carried out by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which, in cooperation with the Center for Environmental Information and Education and the State Procurement Agency, actively works to introduce and promote the sustainable public procurement.
