According to the results of the wood quality assessment made during the national forest census, 47% of the total stock of coniferous wood (as raw material) in Georgia is of high value, while only 5% of the total stock of deciduous wood is wood for use as raw material).
Many factors affect the wood quality starting from the species composition and ending with the social factor, therefore the wood condition is different depending on the regions of Georgia.
Among the regions of Georgia, in terms of the wood quality (in particular, the wood quality for use as raw material), the highest rate, 39% (wood) is recorded in Adjara region, while Samtskhe-Javakheti (34%) and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (22%) regions stand out compared to other regions.
Conifers dominate in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions and in the case of Adjara, conifers are represented with a high rate - 39%.
