Austropy ASA Astrosystem will deliver a telescope and dome to the Georgian National Astrophysical Observatory. This company was selected as the winner of the tender and now the procedures for signing the contract is underway.
In addition to ASA Astrosystem, 3 more companies – German Astelco Systems, German APM Telescopes and Italian Officina Stellare Spa participated in the bidding announced by the Municipal Development Fund for the procurement.
It is noteworthy that, with the financial support of the World Bank, the Municipal Development Fund plans to organize a new technological and innovative scientific digital museum for the Abastumani Observatory.
According to the plan, the museum will be arranged on the first floor of the rehabilitated building and in the yard of the Observatory. Eight locations will include various types of astronomical static, video and animated expositions. One of the place will be designed to arrange mini planetarium. The existing fountain will be transformed into the exhibition space, too.
In order to prepare a complete project documentation for this project, the Municipal Development Fund is currently conducting the market research. This study should identify stakeholders with similar experiences and approximate cost of the purchase.
