Mikheil Chkhenkeli briefed the American scientist on the project of the Hadron Therapy Center at the Kutaisi International University. It was agreed during the meeting that Professor Pankuch will become a member of the Advisory Board of the Hadron Therapy Center of the Kutaisi International University and will be actively involved in the clinical and research processes of the Hadron Therapy Center.

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, together with Nikoloz Chkhetiani, Chairman of the Board of the Cartu Foundation, Alexandre Tevzadze, Rector of the Kutaisi International University, and Vakhtang Tsagareli, Director of Projects and Operations of the Cartu Foundation, participated in the Annual Meeting of the American-Society-for-Radiation-Oncology (ASTRO 2021), held in Chicago.

Two cyclotron-type accelerators will be located at the Hadron Therapy Center of the Kutaisi International University. Modern research in nuclear experimental physics, radiation biophysics and chemistry will be carried out on the cyclotron designed for scientific research, while a proton therapy clinic will be established on the basis of the cyclotron intended for medical purposes. It is planned that Georgia will join the international network of proton therapy centers.
