The event will be hosted by writers: Teona Dolenjashvili, Alexander Lortkipanidze, Beso Khvedelidze, Ekaterine Togonidze and Misha Bakhsoliani, who will read excerpts from various literary works.

Anyone can participate in the event, for which the book will be chosen at random from the shelf placed in Pushkin Square, and after reading a short section publicly, the participants will be given the book as a gift.

Books (both written by Georgian authors and translations) - of different genres of different publishing houses will be placed on the shelf.

The World Book Reading Day has been celebrated in more than a hundred countries for many years. The event involves millions of readers, authors, translators and publishers. The aim of this day is to popularize book reading.

"Tbilisi – the World Book Capital" is a UNESCO project, which is being implemented with the financial support of the Tbilisi City Hall. The general sponsor of the project is the Bank of Georgia.
