Levan Davitashvili, with this project, Georgia will turn into the most important partner country for the European Union in terms of energy security.
"When it comes to the European integration, it is clear that if we do not make a certain contribution to the development of the European family, if we do not add something to it, the motivation, interest and enthusiasm for integration on the part of our partners will not be high. Therefore, during negotiations with our European partners, we have always raised the issue in this way - Georgia can play an important role in the development of Europe, Georgia is not only a beneficiary country, but we will be an important contributor, including in the economic direction," - the Minister said.
According to Levan Davitashvili, these are many different issues under one umbrella, which have become the most relevant in the current geopolitical situation - new cargo-transit flows through the so-called middle corridor, digital connectivity - new fiber optic cable and Internet flows from Europe to Asia through Georgia.
“The strategic project initiated by Georgia is very important in this regard - the high-voltage electric connecting transmission line passing under the Black Sea. In addition, this project will really increase the role of Georgia and the country will not only receive economic benefits by fulfilling the transit function, but the energy produced here will be directly exported to the European market, which is the most important thing for Georgian energy,” - Levan Davitashvili said.
