As the Head of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, Levan Mekhuzla, stated, the Georgian wine export will remain stable this year. He said it is expected that this year the export rate will be at the level of 2021, or in the conditions of a relatively negative scenario, it will decrease slightly.
"However, on the other hand, the situation regarding grape spirit is deplorable. We have never considered spirits as a strategic product, unlike wine. Accordingly, this direction was undiversified and wine was mainly exported to Ukraine and Russia. Against the backdrop of the war, it is clear that the export of these goods has been significantly reduced," - the head of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, Levan Mekhuzla, said.
To be informed, in 5 months of 2022, 27,141 tons of wine worth of 79.8 million dollars were exported from Georgia, which is 3.7% less than last year's data. In 2021, Georgia exported 27,416 tons of natural grape wine worth of 82.8 million dollars.
