,,As of 11 months, agro-food products worth 1.3 billion US dollars have been exported from Georgia, which is 16% higher than last year's figure," - the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, announced, while presenting the 2023 report on the government's work.
,,According to the data of 11 months of 2023, wine exports have already reached 241 million US dollars. As a result of signing the free trade agreement, the export of wine to the European Union has increased by 130%, and the production of nuts is also developing.
I want to tell you that the government has already allocated 21 million GEL to farmers this year and we will certainly continue this direction in 2024 as well, 70 percent of exports are made to the European Union and we should help our farmers as much as possible to increase the production of nuts.
The number of wineries and cellars reaches 2500, this is how much progress we have made in the last 11 years. Of course, we are developing and paying as much attention as possible to irrigate more land, providing irrigation water was one of the main directions of our government. In 2012, 45,000 hectares of land were irrigated. This area has increased to 163,000 hectares in the last 11 years; Rehabilitation of 48 reclamation capital facilities worth GEL 98 million is currently underway," Irakli Gharibashvili said.
