
Nuts and other walnuts maintain the ninth place with a 1.8% share among the largest commodity groups in Georgia's exports. However, this year, the sale of nuts from the country to the international market is characterized by a decreasing trend.
According to official statistics, during 11 months of 2022, Georgia received $89.8 million from the sale of nuts, which is 15.6% lower than the figure of the same period in 2021. As a result, 21,456 tons of nuts were exported from the country during January-November.
It should be noted that after 2019, the export rate of nuts was increasing.
During this period, the main export market for Georgia’s nuts and other walnuts (72.2%) was the EU countries. The ranking of TOP-10 countries according to value is as follows:
1. Italy - $25.2 million, 6 934 tons;
2. Germany - $20.4 million, 4 147 tons;
3. Armenia - $8 million, 2,065 tons;
4. Spain - $4.7 million, 921 tons;
5. Russia - $3.3 million, 824 tons;
6. Lithuania - $3.2 million, 621 tons;
7. France - $3.1 million, 580 tons;
8. Poland - $2.7 million, 559 tons;
9. The Czech Republic - $2.5 million, 524 tons;
10. Saudi Arabia - $2.1 million, 375 tons.
