Russia is still the main supplier of wheat and flour for Georgia. According to Geostat, wheat imports increased in 1Q2024, while flour imports decreased.
In 1Q2024, Georgia bought 61,436 tons of wheat and meslin, 50% more than in the same period last year, for which Georgia paid USD 15.1 million. Russia is the main importing country. Wheat is the fourth largest commodity imported from Russia. A small amount of wheat was imported from Germany:
* Russia - USD 15.1 million/61,436.06 tons;
* Germany - USD 480/200 tons.
Flour Imports
In January-March, flour imports decreased by 57%, amounting to 18,478 tons (USD 4.7 million). Russia leads with a 97% share in flour imports, followed by Turkey.
